Low-carb diet

Low carb diet is one of the most effective diets for the weight loss journey. other than weight loss it is also helpful in reducing your risk for type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. This diet limits carbohydrates and prefers foods that are high in protein and fat. Various types of low-carb diets exist, thus each one has some restrictions on various types and amounts of carbs you can eat. 

It is necessary to check your doctor before starting any weight loss diet, especially when you have some health issues like diabetes or heart disease.  A low-carb diet is intended to cause the body to burn stored fat for energy, which leads to weight loss. 


Your food choices depends on few things, that how healthy you are, how much you want to loose weight and how much you exercise? Basically low carb diet focuses on proteins and some non starchy vegetables. Some dietitians allow small amounts of fruit, vegetables and whole grain in their diet plan. Basically in this diet you have to limits grains, legumes ,fruits, pastas, starchy vegetables and sweets. Most people can easily loose weight if they try to restrict calories and physical activity.  Some low-carbs diets greatly restrict carbs during the initial phase of the diet and then gradually increase the number of allowed carbs. 

Side effects 

  • A sudden reduction in carbs can cause temporary side effects as headache, constipation and muscle cramps. Restricting carbs in the long term they may result in some vitamin and mineral deficiencies and gastrointestinal disturbances. 

It's an healthy option to follow a low-carb diet, as long it includes variety of nutritious, whole unprocessed foods. Concentrating on protein, fibre, complex carbs and healthy fats can help you to feel satisfied throughout the day and it will provide the nutrients needed for a balanced diet.
